Your hair & makeup trial- what to expect!

Updated: Jul 3, 2020

As well as a practice run for your wedding day, your trial is our opportunity to meet up and to get to know each other. I love to hear all about your wedding plans and to get to you know you better and to find out about your individual style and wedding style. It is also your opportunity to ask me lots of questions too! I will offer my professional advice and guidance. Its a fun and relaxed few hours!

I definitely recommend that you arrange your trial after you have bought your wedding dress as this will influence your hair & makeup choice. I encourage you to gather some images of styles that you like, to show me, and Pinterest is a great way to do this- it's a good starting point. However, please don't worry if you really are unsure of what you like/ don't like- I will help you. We will discuss your ideas and try out some styles. We will work together to create a bridal hair & makeup look that you love and that makes you feel confident and fabulous!

I also like to find out about your skincare routine and if you have any concerns about your skin. Healthy skin will 100% enhance your makeup application on your wedding day and it certainly worth addressing any concerns you have, a few months before your wedding day. I am a Beauty Therapist & Holistic Facialist, with lots of experience and advice to offer.

I ask you to arrive with clean, dry hair and makeup free please. I prefer your hair to be in its natural condition, so please don't worry if this is 'frizzy' as I can then chose my products appropriately. I recommend you allow 3 hours for a hair & makeup trial (or 90 minutes for makeup trial only and 2 hours for a a hair trial) which is ideal and also allows time to chat about the plan/ timings for your wedding morning. I have some head pieces in my studio by Susan Dick Jewellery and The Bobby Pin that you can try on if you haven't decided what to wear in your hair as yet (if anything) and these can be ordered via the companies direct. Its also a good idea to wear a pale coloured top (white or cream, if this is the colour of your wedding dress) as this will give you a better idea of how your hair & makeup will look with it.

I have a little beauty studio in my garden and this is where you will come for your trial. It's a lovely relaxing and welcoming room which is very private, with parking outside the house. All my clients and brides love the studio and you are often met with a gorgeous aromatherapy scent when you open the door. You are welcome to bring your Mum or a friend along to your trial. I would recommend just bringing the one person, so that you don't get overwhelmed by more people giving you their advice. My studio is small but can comfortably accommodate 3 people plus myself if your Bridesmaid and Mum would also like a trial. We can discuss this prior to your trial.

I hope this explains your trial process and what to expect. It's a very exciting day for a bride...but can also be a bit daunting- I completely understand that and I am here to ensure this is a very enjoyable part of your wedding planning and will do my upmost to make sure you feel comfortable and know you are going to look and feel fabulous on your wedding day!

Looking forward to meeting you soon!
